Specifications include, but are not limited to: Initial intake calls must use a consistent, systematic and research-based protocol. Services will include but not be limited to: • Screen all callers and provide general information to callers as requested • Send evidence-based self-help materials • Provide information to family or friends calling on behalf of a tobacco user • Provide assistance to physicians/clinicians calling for information • Provide information on Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and prescription medications • Assess tobacco usage and readiness to quit • Use Minimum Data Set (MDS) intake questions based on North American Quitline Consortium’s (NAQC) requirements • Custom intake questions per TUPP’s request • Schedule follow-up behavioral counseling telephone calls to those ready to quit within the next thirty days • Enroll callers in text messaging support for those desiring this service • Provide web-based services with an online registration portal which should include additional services of text messaging, e-mail support, materials only, and/or NRT
