Specifications include, but are not limited to: A high‐throughput sheep vertebral drill defect study in a spine model should be used to screen candidate osteopromotive materials for use in conjunction with the VCF synthetic bone graft substitute scaffold. Eight study groups will be investigated in an 8‐week study in skeletally mature ewe sheep. Implant placement should be randomized across implant sites. The prescribed study groups are defined below: 1) Empty Defect 2) Autologous Bone 3) Vitreous carbon foam (VCF) alone 4) VCF + Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) 5) VCF + Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) 6) VCF + Bone Marrow Stromal Cells (BMSC)   7) VCF + Demineralized Bone Matrix (DBM) (flowable/putty) 8) VCF + Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 (BMP‐2)
