Specifications include, but are not limited to: This specification is part of a comprehensive Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program for the premises listed herein. IPM is a process for achieving long-term, environmentally sound pest suppression and prevention through the use of a wide variety of technological and management practices. Control strategies in an IPM program include: A. Structural and procedural modifications to reduce food, water, harborage, and access used by pests. B. Pesticide compounds, formulations, and application methods that present the lowest potential hazard to humans and the environment. C. Non-pesticide technologies such as trapping, HEPA vacuums, and monitoring devices. D. Coordination among all facilities management programs that have a bearing on the pest control effort. II. Contractor Service Requirements: The Contractor shall furnish all supervision, labor, materials, and equipment necessary to accomplish the monitoring, trapping, pesticide application, and pest removal components of the IPM program. The Contractor shall also provide detailed, site-specific recommendations for structural and procedural modifications to aid in pest prevention. III. Pest Included and Excluded A. The Contractor shall adequately suppress the following pests: 1. Indoor populations of rodents, insects, arachnids, and other arthropods. 2. Outdoor populations of potentially indoor-infesting species that are within the property boundaries of listed buildings. 3. Nests of stinging insects within the property boundaries of the listed buildings. 4. Individuals of all excluded pest populations that are incidental invaders inside the listed buildings, including winged termites, swarmer’s emerging indoors. 5. Outdoor populations of birds that are nesting on or near the listed buildings. B. Populations of the Following Pests are Excluded From This Contract: 1. Termites and other wood-destroying organisms. When termites are found, Housing will go out for a bid for each occurrence. 2. Bed Bugs. When bed bugs are found, Housing will go out for a bid for each occurrence. 3. Mosquitoes. When Mosquitoes are found, Housing will go out for a bid for each occurrence. 4. Bat. When a Bat is found, Housing will call for service, if outside of building catch and relocate, if inside will catch and take to KSU Lab for testing. C. Initial Building Inspections: The Contractor shall complete a thorough, initial inspection of each building or site (excluding occupied private living areas) at least ten (10) working days prior to the starting date of the contract. The Purpose of the initial inspection is for the Contractor to evaluate the pest control needs of all locations and to identify problem areas and any equipment, structural features, or management practices that are contributing to the pest infestations. Access to building space shall be coordinated with the Dept. of Housing and Dining Services, Pest Control Coordinator. D. Excluded Services for the Pest Control Contract: 1. When termites and other wood-destroying organisms are found, Housing will go out for bid for each occurrence. 2. When bed bugs are found, Housing will go out for bid for each occurrence. 3. Mosquitoes and outdoor populations of insects or rodents that are out a 10ft radius of the buildings. 4. When a bat is found, Housing will call for service, if outside of building catch and relocate, if inside will catch and take to KSU Lab for testing. E. Bait traps 1. Housing and Dining would like to keep the baits and traps in service. If additional traps are needed, the contractor shall provide the bait and traps and then provide the cost for the additional trap(s) to Housing and Dining Services. F. Bird issues will be addressed when a bird problem occurs. The Pest Control Plan shall consist of five parts as follows: A. Proposed Materials and Equipment for Service: The Contractor shall provide current labels and Material Safety Data Sheets for all pesticides to be used and brand name. B. Proposed Methods for Monitoring and Detection: The Contractor shall describe methods and procedures to be used identifying sites of pest Harborage and access, and for making objective assessments of pest populations levels throughout the term of the contract. C. Service Schedule for Each Building or Site: The Contractor shall provide complete coordination of scheduling with Housing and Dining staff for service schedules that include bimonthly, monthly, or quarterly frequency of Contractor visits, specific day(s) of the week of Contractor visits, and approximate duration of each visit. 1. Full monitoring sweeps of student residence rooms in Moore, Haymaker, Ford, West, Boyd, Van Zile, Putnam, Goodnow, Marlatt, Wefald, Honors House, and Smurthwaite Hall rooms shall be done two (2) times a year. These shall be completed July or August (before classes start), and over Christmas break in December or January. The common areas of Residence Halls are done monthly. Housing and Dining Services will call the contractor should services be needed between scheduled visits. D. Description of and Structural or operational Changes That Facilitate the Pest Control Effort: The Contractor shall describe site-specific solutions for observed sources of pest food, water, and access. E. Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certificates or Licenses: The Contractor shall provide photocopies of State issued Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certificates of Licenses for every employee who will be performing on-site service under this contract. 1. The Contractor shall be responsible for carry out work according the approved Pest Control Plan. The Contractor shall receive the concurrence of the PCC prior to implementing any subsequent changes to the approved Pest Control Plan, including additional or replacement pesticides and on-site personnel.
