Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Main Water Treatment Plant has structural deficiencies with the Clerestory and adjoining roof structure requiring significant repairs. The skylights within the filter gallery are to be removed and infilled with concrete in preparation for a new roof membrane. Removal of the loose/peeling paint from the underside of the structure’s roof while providing complete protection of the water filter galleries below during all phases of the construction work is a critical component of the project. The paint must be removed by a certified abatement contractor due to its composition. New finishes and electrical lighting will round out the scope of the intended project. Through previous studies as referenced in Attachment C, 3 repair options were identified to mitigate the structural deficiencies and the City is open to any of these options or a “hybrid” developed from the listed options. The options previously identified include removing the clerestory element entirely and replacing it with a flat roof slab matching the adjacent roof elevation; complete refurbishment of the clerestory element; and lastly, remove and rebuild the clerestory element with a new system, similar in design.
