For consideration, firms need to have experience providing hydraulics, hydrology, drainage area analysis, and structural footing design for a prefabricated pedestrian bridge to be furnished by the owner. The current Brookwood trail has a low water crossing that is unusable during storm events or when the dich is silted in with mud. The purpose of the project is to locate a prefabricated pedestrian bridge over the low water crossing. The location of the project is just north and west of the north end of Prairie Lane. The bridge is to be located over the paved drainage channel just west of the sub-division on the Brookwood Trail. A. The owner will retain a temporary easement and clean out the soil just downstream north of the bridge. B. The city plans to construct the bridge on the footings designed by the selected firm. C. The selected firm will develop footing designs adequate for use with the pre-fabricated pedestrian bridge furnished by the owner. D. The selected firm will perform hydraulic analysis to ensure the bridge deck location and waterway opening size is adequate for no rise in back water for at least a 25-year storm. E. The selected firm will apply for all required permits for the construction of the pedestrian bridge. F. This project will require available resources and engineering staff to quickly generate the plans and perform the hydraulic analysis. Finalizing the design of the project is critical so that final design can proceed to meet the aggressive schedule expected to complete design plans by the fall of 2025. G. The land surveying for this project may be provided by city staff, but the consultant may be tasked with providing these services as well. If so, that scope and fee for that surveying work will be negotiated with the successful consultant.
