Specifications include, but are not limited to: This contract will consist of the aerial application of Milestone herbicide to control musk thistle on up to 4,600 acres. This is a 12-month calendar year contract and must be executed according to the specifications within (One contract -Two applications as outlined in this document). Applications will consist of approximately 800 acres sprayed in the spring (1 - 30 April) and approximately 3,800 acres sprayed in the fall (20 October – 20 November or prior to soil freeze-up). The point of contact at Smoky Hill ANG Range for this contract is Galen Wiens (316) 759-8514. Prior to the application of any herbicides, contact will be made with Mr. Wiens to discuss particular application protocol and site selections. Before accessing Smoky Hill for aerial application flights, contact must be made with the tower to obtain clearance. A tentative schedule of military flying activities will be provided in advance for scheduling purposes. There will be times when aerial applications will not be allowed because of military training missions. Spray blocks for aerial application will be mapped using ArcMap technologies. GPS locations can be emailed to the applicator or detailed aerial maps can be sent. The application rate of Milestone herbicide will be 4 oz. per acre. Herbicide applications will be made in accordance with all Label Requirements to include weather restrictions and drift management techniques. Milestone herbicide for this contract WILL NOT be provided and will need to be figured into the cost of the application. Payment for the aerial application will be made on a per acre basis. Two payments will be made for this contract. One in the spring and one in the fall after each application is complete. Payments will be made after a detailed invoice has been received by Smoky Hill to include total acreage sprayed and a map depicting those acres. There has been one spray block identified for the spring application totaling 800 acres. Spray blocks for the fall application will be determined after spring and summer scouting trips have identified areas with the highest concentrations of musk thistles. Multiple sites over the 34,000 acres will be sprayed. The minimum size for spray blocks will be 100 acres.
