Specifications include, but are not limited to: two new tandem axle trucks with a 16’ dump body of the current model year. The trucks will be utilized by the Public Works Department for hauling rock, gravel, asphalt, sand, soil, and other road materials with combined truck loads in excess of 64,000 pounds, load paver hoppers and chip spreaders, spread salt-sand and plow snow. The trucks shall be geared for low-speed off-road use with appropriate gearing for operating speeds up to 75 mph with an engine governor set for a top speed of 70 mph. The truck vendor shall provide speed ratios and performance data for the specified engine, transmission, rear axle, and tire combination for final selection by Riley County prior to order. Except as specified herein, the sand spreader, tailgate conveyor, and snow plow will be supplied separately and are not a part of this specification.
