Specifications include, but are not limited to: The mission of the Contractor and the assigned security guards shall be to: staff the security pod and monitor the security systems and cameras at the Kansas History Center complex, 6425 S.W. 6th, Topeka, KS, 24 hours per day for 365 days per year (one guard for 8760 hours per year). protect the complex, its contents/collections, and its occupants, including state employees, customers, contractors and visitors from system failures, fire, theft, physical assault, and other threats. provide immediate response to any fire or security alarms. prevent theft and vandalism of state property by observing, reporting, deterring and responding. The Contractor assigned security guard will report all instances of assault, disorderly behavior, theft or vandalism that requires immediate law enforcement intervention first to the Capitol Police, then to the Historical Society Security Coordinator (using an incident report form). All such instances are to be reported immediately and accurately to the Capitol Police. Likewise, fire alarms will be investigated, responded to, and reported immediately. The successful Contractor must be in compliance with all City ordinances governing private security services. The Contractor must provide documentation for each assigned employee of a law enforcement background check prior to beginning a duty assignment at the Historical Society. Security guards will protect the State workforce, customers and visitors to the building from assault or battery by intruders to the building by observing, reporting, deterring and responding. Security guards will be courteous at all times to the State workforce, customers and visitors to the building. The Historical Society will approve final selection of each security guard after a review of his or her qualifications as stated below. The Historical Society reserves the right to interview proposed candidates prior to placement at the Kansas History Center. If the Society finds any guard unsatisfactory, for any reason, the Contractor shall immediately provide a replacement that is determined by the Society to be satisfactory. No guard shall be assigned to this site without an orientation of the building and the basic functions of the security system and the specific responsibilities of their shift.
