Specifications include, but are not limited to: a full featured cloud based digital exhibit software with full-service engagement to meet the needs of the Johnson County Museum. The REDLINED: Cities, Suburbs, Segregation online exhibition will become a long-term digital legacy for the physical exhibition which closed January 7, 2023. The online exhibition will follow the established structure of the museum publication, “REDLINED”. The experience will showcase 6 key entry points into the history and evolution of redlining with the anticipation of no more than 75 content webpages. JCPRD intends to work with a vendor to transform the publication and physical exhibit with 22,000 words, images, artifacts, and existing graphic design into a high-quality online interactive digital platform, including coordination to build content strategy, design, website construction, as well as JCPRD staff training at the conclusion of the work to manage and support the application. JCPRD is focused on creating a unique, fully immersive online experience for the public that tells a compelling exhibit story through copy, artifacts, and design, rather than displaying items online in a gallery-type format. JCPRD is already engaged in services for collection management software and digital exhibit software would be a separate functionality. REQUIRED SOFTWARE COMPONENTS The system will provide an out of the box software solution to meet the following business areas: •Fully Responsive Design: The application should perform on any device or screen size regardless of web browser or operating system and include interactive features for engagement. The platform shall provide suggested page templates and styling options that allow for intuitive design and end user navigation. • Publication Options: The application should allow for web app publishing to the App Store and Google Play for either online and/or offline use. Not only for personal mobile products but also for in-gallery touchscreen devices and kiosks. • Cloud-Based platform: The application platform should allow for quick, easy access for updating content in real time from any internet connected device without requiring code knowledge. The software should also allow for scalability while delivering automatic enhancements, performance improvements, new feature releases and upgrades on a scheduled basis. It is expected that the vendor will maintain the platform and provide ongoing support. • Media: The application should support a variety of media including embedded images, audio, video, 3D content and text. While not a requirement for selection, JCPRD is also interested in potential software ability to host live lectures, downloadable documents, and interactive scavenger hunts to further engage the public in the content. • Accessibility: The application shall have the ability to add alt-tags to any image and optimize text size and color contrast. Compliance with WCAG standards is desired. • Foreign language: JCPRD expects to be able to easily publish the online exhibit in multiple languages. • Design: JCPRD expects a comprehensive project plan with a discovery and design focused client team to lead layout, style, and interactive concept creation while considering an on-brand look & feel. The project plan shall include tentative project dates with a start date no later than December 1, 2023. The application should allow for JCPRD to have granular access control over fonts, colors, page elements, layout configurations, and visual style. JCPRD will rely on the vendor for industry related knowledge and best practices for creating an online digital exhibit. • Search: The application should have extensive controls in the platform to customize what in the app is searchable and how it displays to end users. • Webforms: JCPRD expects the application to have the ability to create surveys, custom input fields, incorporate plug-ins to spark social conversation and other information collection forms. • Data & Reporting: The application should include the ability to input Google Analytics and Facebook tracking codes. JCPRD expects a built-in analytics dashboard and/or a full standard set of reports with flexibility for customization and development of reports as needed, especially for tracking user behavior and inputs. • Content Gating (Desired): JCPRD is interested in the potential integration with the Museum’s existing membership system, ACTIVENet. With the ability to limit access to content (entire app or specific pages) using gating feature.
