The City of Abilene is seeking qualified design-build firms for the design and construction of new multi-use fields. It is the City’s desire to have one point of contact for the design and construction team. The design team will work directly with the general contractor to plan and develop the project, compile accurate cost estimates, give recommendations for value engineering, assist with bidding documents, and coordinate construction with chosen subcontractors. Once the design process is complete, the City will work with the design-build firm to acquire bids to complete the work. It is the City’s preference to use or give the opportunity to local sub-contractors to perform and complete work on the project. This project aims to construct new baseball and softball fields that meet KSHSAA (“Kansas High School Activities Association”) and recreational league standards, with the capability to play soccer in the outfields. The fields should accommodate various age groups, lighting, concessions, bathrooms, storage, and a parking lot. The current site location is in Abilene, KS, with more information to be submitted with the Part II Request for Proposals.
