The contractor is responsible for establishing and maintaining centerline of the traveled way for the duration of the project. Splitting the traveled way with a tape measure is an acceptable technique to establish centerline. This work is considered subsidiary to other items in the contract. The contractor shall maintain access to all residences and sideroads during construction. KDOT contact person is David Ubel, Dodge City Construction @ 620-682-7938 Office or 620- 408-6794 Cell. All excess milled material not used on this project shall become the property of the Contractor and removed from the project. Contractor must Mill and Overlay any section of the roadway on the same day. No traffic will be allowed on the milled surface and the contractor must have a contingency plan in case of bad weather and/or equipment breakdown. Quantities for the milling are based on a 1.5" nominal depth and a unit weight of 145 lbs/cubic feet. The milling depth may be decreased if the actual unit weight is more than 145 lbs/cubic feet, but will not be increased if the unit weight is less than 145 lbs/cubic feet. The maximum milling depth will be 1.5" or less. (change the 1.5" nominal depth/maximum milling depth to match the project's planned milling depth) When milling mainline areas, a full width mill head will be required to maintain cross slope of the existing lane being milled in one pass. A smaller mill head will be allowed on miscellaneous areas as approved by the engineer and will not be allowed to perform mainline milling. Milling thickness will be adjusted at bridge approaches, R/R tracks and grade crossings to allow a reasonable transition.
