4.2. The primary purpose for haying in the Park is to establish fire barrier strips, control woody vegetation and create edges for wildlife species and hunting efforts. 4.2.1 Hay will be cut between July 5th – July 31, only. Any extensions will have to be approved in advance and in writing from the El Dorado State Park Manager. The dates will be in effect during renewal years unless otherwise agreed upon prior to June 1st of that year. 4.2.2. Only one cutting will be permitted per year. Contractor is responsible for all costs in swathing, baling and removal of hay. 4.3. Payment of KDWP share shall be made in a cashier’s check to Kansas Dept. of Wildlife Parks and presented to the Park Manager or his designee. 4.3.1. Payments for the hay must be arranged prior to removal of any hay from the area. Contact the Park Manager or Ranger prior to removing any hay. 4.4. All bales and equipment must be removed from Department property by September 1, 2025, or September 1 of any subsequent year of the contract. A penalty of $5/bale per day will be charged for any bales remaining in the El Dorado State Park after August 15th. 4.5. Acreage figures quoted are approximate acres of grass to be cut. Various tracts will be offered annually dependent upon the annual management plan for haying and burning.
