Kansas Correctional Industries (KCI) operates various manufacturing operations as part of a program that provides employment and training for offenders under the state’s custody in support of successful re-entry programming. KCI produces products and services that are utilized by the department internally and sold to authorized customers as defined in Kansas statute. The purpose of this RFP is to establish a contract for use by the KCI division for the purchase of lines of chair kits, individual (replacement) parts, desk and modular systems furniture kits and related replacement parts, bookcase kits and related replacement parts, filing and storage kits and related replacement parts, ergonomic furniture and accessories kits and related replacement parts, table kits and related replacement parts, for its authorized customers. It is KCI’s desire to develop an up-to-date stylish, extensive, and diverse line of furniture to market and sale to its customers. In order to accomplish this goal, KCI intends to develop basic product lines on which future furniture product line expansion will be based.
