The contractor shall pick up fire extinguishers which require a hydrostatically test and return them to the agency in usable and approved conditions. New material must be used for all recharging. • Fire Extinguishers shall be clearly tagged showing the date the work was performed and the signature of the person performing the work. • Procedures shall be performed in conformance to OSHA and NFPA Regulations and Standards, and by a person that has been certified by the State of Kansas Fire Marshall’s Office according to K.S.A. 31-133a. • Extinguishers shall be clearly marked for their proper use, class or fire grouping for which they are approved. • Fire Extinguishers found to be beyond repair shall be clearly marked as such and returned to the responsible State agency. • State agency personnel will notify the contractor when to perform their annual inspections (one-time call) and when to pick up extinguishers for testing, recharge or repair as applicable. • Agencies using this contract will be cautioned to organize their extinguisher testing in an effort to hold pickups to a minimum. • Quantity of extinguishers to be picked up at one time will be determined by agency personnel, but the agencies and contractor shall observe the guideline of removing no more than one-third (1/3) of the extinguishers at one time, from any building. • Contractor shall be required to provide a comparable loaner Fire Extinguisher for units removed from agency equipment rooms, or other high priority areas. • Contractor is required to provide a written list of Extinguishers and locations of removal, to responsible agency personnel at time of Extinguisher removal. • The maximum time between pickup and Extinguisher return shall not exceed four (4) working days, and all Extinguishers must be returned in place to using agency no later than 4:00 p.m. each Friday. If Friday is a recognized holiday, other prior arrangements should be made with using agency personnel. If the 4:00 p.m., Friday commitment cannot be met, the contractor is responsible for providing loaner Extinguishers for vacant agency Extinguisher stations. • This contract shall include any and all types of fire extinguishers in both building and other types of equipment (vehicles, etc.)
