The Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks is accepting bids for three (3) Agricultural Production Permits on the Council Grove Wildlife Area. All Agricultural Production Permit Areas lie within floodplains above Council Grove Lake. Please see included map. The Neosho River Agricultural Permit Area includes all outlined (in green) agricultural tracts that lie near the Neosho River within northwestern portions of the wildlife area. The Munkers Creek Agricultural Permit Area includes all outlined (in red) agricultural tracts that lie near Munkers Creek within northeastern portions of the wildlife area. The Short Creek Agricultural Permit Area includes all outlined (in yellow) agricultural tracts that lie near Short Creek within areas west of Highway 177. 4.1. Neosho River Agricultural Permit Area includes approximately 187 acres of cropland located in 18 different tracts. Proposed crop plans for crop year 2025 include 59 acres of corn (31%), 89 acres of soybeans (48%), 32 acres of milo (17%), and 7 acres of sunflowers (4%) in a special wildlife food plot. Annual crop acreage will typically be comprised of three basic crop types (soybeans, corn, and milo) with each crop type contributing approximately 20% to 50% of the total crop acreage. Crop types such as sunflowers or cover crop mixes may also be included in annual crop planting plans as special wildlife food plots and may contribute approximately 5% to 15% of total crop acreage. Please see the Conditions of Bidding section of the Bid Prospectus and Other Comments or Conditions section of the Annual Permit for more information regarding special wildlife food plots. Bidders should be aware that Johnsongrass and shatter-cane are present in many of these agricultural tracts. Approximately 31 acres of additional cropland (within an existing wetland project) may be available for farming during some years depending upon management objectives. These acres are currently not planned to be farmed in 2025. 4.2. Munkers Creek Agricultural Permit Area includes approximately 138 acres of cropland located in 14 different tracts. Proposed crop plans for crop year 2025 include 29 acres of corn (21%), 72 acres of soybeans (52%), 28 acres of milo (20%), and 9 acres of sunflowers (7%) in a special wildlife food plot. Annual crop acreage will typically be comprised of three basic crop types (soybeans, corn, and milo) with each crop type contributing approximately 20% to 50% of the total crop acreage. Additional crop types such as sunflowers or cover crop mixes may also be included in annual crop planting plans as special wildlife food plots and may contribute approximately 5% to 15% of total crop acreage. Annual crop acreage will typically be comprised of two basic crop types (soybeans, corn or milo) with each crop type contributing approximately 25% to 75% of the total crop acreage.
