The 22nd LRS requires the purchase of one X-ray machine. The machine will be primarily used for screening all carry-on and checked luggage departing via airlift. The Air Force requires passenger baggage X-Ray machines to ensure passenger service agents are not required to hand search all hand-carried and checked baggage to meet United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and Air Mobility Command (AMC) passenger baggage screening requirements. Additionally, X-Ray screening technology provides a second level of screening to ensure safety of flight on military and commercial aircraft.
