1. Casters & Base – all chairs proposed must have a 5-point base and be available with carpet, hard floor or dual (carpet and hard floor) casters. 2. Seat - 2.1 Proper support and comfort 2.2 Must have a seat sliding depth mechanism (or other technology to allow multiple sized individuals to use the chair). This should allow for the seat to be adjusted to the correct depth to fit various height/size individuals properly. Control should be easy to use and reach. The control should be easily adjustable from a seated position with a natural motion. 2.3 Approximate dimensions: Width not less than 18”, height 15-20”, depth 17-21” 3. Back - 3.1 Should conform to the contour of an individuals’ spine and give support to alleviate stress on back muscles. 3.2 Should have adequate lumbar support (fixed or adjustable), height adjustment if lumbar is fixed 3.3 Should be high enough to reach shoulder blades and wide enough (approx. 16”) to support the waist breadth. 3.4 Should be available in a mid and high back. 3.5 Mesh back – It is preferred that any mesh back be attached in a firm frame or other method to firmly hold it in place. Note –pillow case style pulled over a frame is not desirable. 3.6 If the chair has a tilt tension adjustment for the back, it should be easy to reach an adjust from a seated position.
