SIT is planning the construction of a 12,000 sq foot bus storage and maintenance facility with 3,300sq feet for administrative offices. The estimated sq. footage of the site plan (including structure, parking, access to roads, and other site elements) is 26,000. The potential site is located close to highway 25/highway 34 corridor, a route that allows access to many of our counties. This site also has easy access to water and utility services and is the right size without having excess acres to maintain unlike the other sites. The new facility will provide safety and security to fleet, staff, and visitors. A fence will surround the yard for exterior storage and vehicle protection along with security cameras to limit theft and vandalism. The facility will provide space for bus storage as well as bus maintenance. There will also be a vehicle wash bay and we would like to include wiring for potential future electric vehicles. Currently, we have a total fleet of 41 vehicles. Administrative offices should allow space for employees to efficiently complete day-to-day operations as well as an open area for visitors to safely and comfortable enter the building. The current facility houses 8 offices or cubicle space for administrative staff. 8 Fulltime drivers, 4 part time drivers, along with two Maintenance Workers with no office space. For the new facility, we plan to provide office space for 8-10 administrative staff (no cubicles), 10 full-time drivers, 8 part-time drivers as well as offices to house two maintenance employees in the shop.
The proposal must include the ability to create design documents and specifications for the construction phase to be used in bidding. SIT will conduct their own procurement for the construction, but procurement services will not be required by the firm conducting the A&E/Design; only the specifications needed to conduct the procurement.
