The Westlawn Place Area Utility Improvements – Phase 1 project includes the excavation and upsizing of the Ankeny Art Center Basin; the installation of both precast and cast-in-place dual cell and single cell reinforced concrete box (RCB) culverts; the installation of a relief storm sewer system along SW Westlawn Drive and through Westside Park; and the replacement of PCC street pavement, storm sewer, water main, and sanitary sewer along SW 4th Street from SW State Street Frontage Road to SW Westlawn Drive in the City of Ankeny. The construction improvements include approximately 40,500 CY of Class 10 excavation, 5,600 CY of Class 13 excavation, 7,200 CY of topsoil, 450 LF of dual cell 4’x10’ RCB culvert, 150 LF of single cell 4’x10’ RCB culvert, 1,375 SY of 8” thick double-reinforced PCC street pavement, 1,150 SY of 8” thick PCC street pavement, and 1,150 SY of 7” thick PCC street pavement. Additional construction improvements include approximately 1,275 SY of 6” thick PCC shared use path, 1,375 SY of 5” thick PCC shared use path, 900 SY of 4” thick PCC sidewalk, 30 storm sewer structures, 1,750 LF of storm sewer, 750 LF of water main, 100 LF of sanitary sewer, 900 LF of subdrain, 4,500 SY of subgrade preparation, and 4,500 SY of modified subbase. Other associated improvements include clearing and grubbing, temporary shoring, temporary water main, temporary sidewalk, temporary and permanent erosion control, temporary and permanent surface restoration, pavement markings and signs, temporary traffic control, mobilization, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project.
