This design will involve redesigning the disc golf area from thirteen (13) to eighteen (18) holes, the construction of a pedestrian bridge over Walnut Creek for disc golfers and the installation of a small prefab open air shelter/gazebo with electrical power in the park. It is the City’s intent to bid this project in June of 2026 and have it completed by the Spring of 2027. Related project items include grading and associated permits. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CONSULTANT: • Perform all surveying work necessary to prepare design plans described above based on the City of Urbandale’s horizontal and vertical control. • Prepare preliminary construction plans. Coordinate with City Staff to develop proposed course layout prior to submittal. Preliminary plan submittal to include course layout, plan and profiles, bridge layout, and open-air shelter specifications and location. Design to be within existing Park property. No additional property or temporary easements are anticipated. City Staff will review said preliminary plans prior to the initiation of the final plans. • Coordinated input from local disc golf community on the course layout by using social media and/or small group meeting(s) and a minimum of one public meeting. • Provide recommendation on pedestrian bridge type/material and location based on design factors and cost. Minimal aesthetics are anticipated. • Provide recommendation on open air prefab shelter type/material based on design factors and cost. Minimal aesthetics are anticipated. • Prepare all applications and assist the City in obtaining all permits (Iowa DOT, City of Urbandale, DNR, COE and FEMA etc.). Consultant to determine the extent of permitting required. Work is in the floodplain and will require a Joint Permit. • Prepare an engineer’s opinion of estimated construction costs with each submittal.
