Specifications include, but are not limited to: r snow removal and ice control services on City maintained sidewalks and crossing guard areas in West Des Moines; A. The Contractor will remove snow accumulations from school crossing guard areas identified on the attached maps (shown on detail maps). Snow removal shall begin once snow has accumulated to a depth of one-half inch (1/2”). Snow will need to be removed from all locations by 7:00 a.m. on days when school is in session. It will be the Contractor’s responsibility to monitor the school calendar as well as school closings. B. In the event of a prolonged storm event, if snow begins after the start of the school day, or if crossing guard areas are plowed in by street plows during the school day, snow will need to be removed by Contractor before schools release students at the end of the school day. School release times may vary based on the school(s) being served by the crossing guard location. Contractor will be responsible for monitoring school cancellations and early releases due to snow and adjust snow removal accordingly.
