LATEST MODEL The bidder shall quote on the latest production model available as manufactured by the selected company and shall provide with their bid, the manufacturer's printed brochure or specification sheet for that model. No inked-in changes or alterations of printed material will be accepted. The successful bidder shall also provide a build sheet for the unit being bid. It shall be the succcessful bidder's responsibility to confer with the successful chassis bidder prior to building the unit to insure a proper working combination of the completed unit.; ENGINE The truck / unit shall have a Cummins engine (L9) 360 horsepower or equivalent with an Allison transmission (3000 Series) with power take off (PTO) and push button style controller / shifter.; OTHER CHASSIS REQUIREMENTS Drum brakes are preferred for the unit. Locking rear axles are preferred for the unit, Rear air suspension is also preferred with adjustable ride height. Exhaust shall be a "stack style" system. The complete chassis unit shall be programmed to operate at a maximum road speed of 66 miles per hour.; CONSTRUCTION The packer shall be constructed of minimum 10 gauge, high tensile steel that is powder-coated or treated with a corrosion resistant coating.; BODY The body sides shall be a curved design and shall be a minimum 10-gauge high tensile sheet, 50,000 PSI minimum yield steel. Floor sheets shall also be a minimum of 10 gauge, high tensile sheet, 50,000 PSI minimum yield steel. Eleven (11) gauge high tensile strength steel is allowable for roof sheets. The body sides and roof shall be perimeter reinforced to withstand continuous operation at maximum imposed loads without harmful deformation or excessive wear. The floor shall rest on two (2) longitudinal long members and full width lateral cross members, or otherwise be constructed of a minimum of 1/4" high tensile steel supported by two (2) longitudinal long members. The body roof hinge member shall be of sufficient size and material to support extended physical use and shall be welded to the roof sheet. The packer body shall be capable of packing 1,000 pounds per cubic yard based on average household refuse. In addition the body shall have an access door at the left front corner of the body, which will incorporate a latch and locking mechanism. The door opening shall be a minimum of 29" high by 29" wide. The body shall include a step to access the body behind the ejector blade. Any and all pins, pivots or moving parts on the entire unit shall be grease serviceable, and require threaded grease zerk fittings conveniently located for easy accessibility. Drive-in zerks are not acceptable. The body mounting on the truck chassis must allow five (5) inches of clearance between the back of the cab and the front of the box to allow for vertical exhaust installation. The body, installed on the truck chassis frame shall allow for a minimum ten (10) inches of rear chassis frame extension, if possible, past the rear most part of the rear air brake chamber. This will allow for jack positioning on the frame of the truck to lift the vehicle off the ground for maintenance. The body shall include mud flaps both in front and in the back of the tandem axle chassis wheels. The body and all supporting systems shall also provide sufficient clearance in respect to the rear wheels to allow for easy installation and use of tire chains. The body shall be a minimum of 20 cubic yards, with tandem axle configuration.
