Specifications-Mandatory; Provide all labor, equipment and materials to perform inspections of bridge traveler equipment on normal service type (annual) intervals. This service to include inspections of the bridge travelers including runways. The inspection of the generators and scissor lift are not included in this solicitation. The contract will only be for the crane portion of the Traveler. Traveler Information; The traveler is manufactured by TC/American Crane Company. Please see the attachments labeled Attachment B- Traveler and Attachment C- EB Traveler Plans for drawings of the traveler. Iowa DOT will share the manufacturer’s manual with the awarded contractor as needed. Inspections and Services at a minimum, must include: • Inspections must comply with requirements of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 CFR 1910.179 standards for Periodic Inspections on normal service type (yearly) intervals and hoist manufacturer’s recommendation. • A list of all items required to be inspected on these inspections per “Attachment A”. • Provide all required equipment, materials and manpower to perform inspections of bridge travelers and rails. Responders shall include any service call charges, travel time and per diem expenses as part of the service cost listed for each location in the “Items” section. • If a traveler is determined to be “out of service” the hoist will be locked and tagged. • Project manager will be responsible to notify Contractor if a traveler does not need to be inspected due to “out of service”. If Contractor is notified and still goes to this location, the DOT will not be responsible for payment. • Contractor shall be expected to have stock or be able to have quick access to a complete line of repair parts for the bridge traveler. • Minor repairs (under $1,000.00) will be covered under this solicitation and can be done without prior authorization from the location. Pricing for labor and materials are listed in the “Items” section . Parts will be charged at the percent discount off list pricing per manufacturer’s list pricing. Any parts that aren’t covered under the manufacturer’s list pricing sheets will need approval from garage supervisor prior to proceeding with repairs. • Contractor will supply a list and quote of recommended repairs (over the minor repair limit) immediately following inspections to the project manager, if it is deemed a “deficiency” (such as a safety hazard or ability to use). Authorization will be required for this work. • A signed Certificate of Compliance to meet OSHA requirements must be provided to the garage supervisor within in two (2) weeks after inspections are completed. • Contractor must schedule time for doing inspections with the Project Manager. A threeday notification prior to inspections must be given.
