The Division intends to establish an Acknowledgement Program, based on the nationally recognized Adopt-a-Highway program, which acknowledges sponsors for adopting a watt, or a solar power collection device, attached to the actual acknowledgement sign. Sponsors contribute funds to support the installation of solar power collecting devices. In return, the sponsor’s logo is affixed to the structure acknowledging the contribution. The solar power collection devices, planned to be scattered along the Airport’s roadway network, are connected to the electrical grid, which is charged with a positive trickle of energy generated by the solar power system. The intent is that the collected sponsor fees will cover the entire cost of the Program, plus provide funding for the Division’s Going Green Program. No additional specifications were given.
