3.1 All work is to be performed within the city limits of Ames, Iowa. 3.1.1 The location and extent of the work will be assigned by the contract administrator. Work shall be performed to the satisfaction of the City of Ames, with permission of the owners of property and of public authority wherever that is required. 3.2 All work shall be performed during normal City of Ames working hours of 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for City holidays. If work is necessary other than during these hours, it must have prior approval by the City of Ames. 3.2.1 There will be no payment made for other than time actually worked; non-working time includes but is not limited to travel time before or after designated working hours, equipment repair time, and meal breaks. The City reserves the right to approve the schedule for meal breaks and/or rest breaks. 3.3 The Contractor shall provide all necessary safeguards and protective devices where work is being done to 1) insure continued normal operation of electric lines, 2) insure the safety of the public, and 3) insure the safety of the Contractor's employees. The Contractor shall obtain all necessary information required to insure the above prior to beginning work. 3.3.1 Appropriate safety equipment shall be furnished by the Contractor and worn by the Contractor's employees at all times during performance of the work in accordance with ANSI Z133-2017 Standards. 3.3.2 ANSI Class 2 reflective apparel is required at all times when the Contractor is working in the City of Ames Right of Way or on City of Ames property. 3.4 Contractor shall follow all MUTCD traffic control and City of Ames standard traffic control forms. No street closures are allowed. If necessary to drop limbs or trees, minor stoppage limited to no more than 5 minutes will be allowed to safely remove trees. Any flaggers will be the responsibility of the Contractor. One lane of traffic must be kept open at all times. 3.5 Reasonable care shall be exercised during tree removal, stump grinding, filling, grading, and clean up to protect from damage all existing trees, other site features, improvements, structures, utilities, and private property. Contractor shall inspect each site prior to removals and document any existing damage via photographs or video. Any damage to street, sidewalks, curbs, utilities, driveways, grounds, other trees, or private property is the responsibility of the Contractor and will be repaired by the Contractor within five (5) business days.
