See below for a list of cold weather products that have been used on the IGC campus. Additionally, the use of magnesium chloride pellets commonly known as “Ice Melt” is proven to be less effective when temperatures fall below 10 degrees. If magnesium chloride pellets are proven to be ineffective, IDOA-FM Grounds section proposes the use of sand. Granular Magnesium Chloride Pellets Sand Treated Rock Salt Liquid Magnesium Chloride Brine Chloride-free Liquid and Pellet Ice Melt Calcium Chloride Pellets IDOA-FM requires the contractor to respond within 1-hour from the time of notification during a winter weather event occurrence during normal business hours. Response time after normal business hours or weekends cannot exceed 2.5 hours from the time of notification.
