Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Indiana Department of Transportation is seeking the services of an experienced janitorial/groundsmaintenance company to provide complete custodial operations and grounds maintenance of rest areasand welcome centers consisting of but not limited to an efficient janitorial and grounds service includinglabor, supervision, equipment, consumables and supplies as specified herein.The Contractor is to perform complete custodial operations and maintenance, including complete lawnand grounds maintenance, as specified herein to ensure the facilities are maintained in a safe, attractive,clean, sanitary, and operable manner (See Exhibit I for definitions). This contract includes rest areaservice building(s), inside & out; utility/storage building(s); vending machine building/area; outsidelighting (does not include 15’ and 30’ pole lights); picnic facilities (tables, shelters, grills, etc.); and allplanted and developed areas within the rest area boundaries.Contract will include snow removal from sidewalks along parking area and going to the main buildingplus area for five (5) cars to depth of rear passenger door. Contract will also include mowing of grassareas as needed with the height of growth maintained at between 3” and 6” in assigned areas. Trimmingshall be done around all buildings, beds, sidewalks, signposts, and curbs within two (2) days of mowing.Mowing shall take place in designated areas as outlined by INDOT.Any extraordinary work must first be authorized by INDOT and must be performed on a time andmaterials basis. The hourly rate for this work will not exceed the quoted amount provide in AttachmentD. Any overtime caused by declared snow emergencies (by state or local authority) may be billed at onehalf (1/2) the extraordinary work rate when approved by INDOT. In the event of any increase in thestatutory minimum wage or mandated state or federal health insurance that would affect personnel costs,both parties will meet to renegotiate the contract.The State of Indiana places significant value on the treatment of travelers who visit rest areas. All travelers are to be treated as customers and the Contractor shall always emphasize customer service.The provisions of the services required as part of this solicitation ultimately reflect upon the Department and the State of Indiana as a whole.
