This project was initiated because the pavement along this section of roadway is deteriorating, with common deficiencies, such as transverse cracking, joint failures, and reflective cracking and spalling from underlying concrete pavement. The purpose of this project is to restore the ride, delay further deterioration of the existing asphalt pavement and to extend the service life of the roadway for another twelve to fifteen years. The project shall be prosecuted in such a way to comply with INDOT's Interstate Highway Congestion Policy (IHCP) and INDOT's Design Memo 24-08 MOT on High-Volume Interstate Highways. This report includes relevant background data, analyses, conclusions and recommendations at the preliminary level. This Abbreviated Engineer's Report guides the ongoing environmental succeeding design phases. The recommended alternative contained herein is intended to serve as an initial basis for design. However, detailed analysis conducted by the designer may result in changes to certain facets of this scoping project. Any changes to the recommended alternative should be confirmed with the Greenfield District Pavement Asset Engineer. The addendum need is to be confirmed by Placement Asset Engineer then the addendum submitted through the District Scoping Manager.
