1. Crops: The contractor shall plant and maintain thirty (30) acres of crops annually. All crops shall be removed from the field no later than October 31st each year. Weather conditions and outside factors will be taken into consideration. No chopping or disking of crop stubble will be allowed until the following spring without the property manager’s approval. All native grass strips and fallow areas are closed to any traffic by farm equipment. These areas are not part of this contract and shall not be used to park equipment on or to cross into the next field. 2. Sunflowers: The tenant shall in each contract year, plant and maintain in good condition (10) acres of Sunflowers at Nickel Plate GBA as outlined below: • Prowl and/or Dual shall be used as a pre-emergent. Labeled rates and recommendations to be followed. • The sunflowers will be planted and fertilized at 90 units of nitrogen. • The variety will be Clearfield or a variety approved by the manager. The property manager shall designate planting location in Exhibit B. • Planting date must be prior to May 1st unless precluded by soil conditions. • These sunflowers shall be cultivated at least twice, with the final cultivation as late as possible in the sunflower growth cycle. • Sunflowers must also be sprayed with Beyond herbicide at a rate of 4 oz/acre as outlined on the label for maximum weed control. • Sunflowers will not be harvested. 3. Mowing: Each year of the contract the tenant will be responsible for mowing approximately five (5) acres of ground three (3) times as specified by the manager. Areas to be mowed include but are not limited to boundaries, parking areas, and access lanes. Mowing should occur during the second full week of July, first week of September, and the last week of October. Lanes and boundaries should be mowed at a minimum width of 12 feet and a maximum width of 20 feet. Tenant to mow a portion of the sunflowers (approx.. 5 acres) as outlined by the manager at the time of mowing. Maps are provided in Exhibit D.
