Specifications include, but are not limited to: Perform duties as described in the Standard Operation Procedures, which are the site-specific duties for a particular assignment or post. DMA reserves the right to amend, modify or reissue without requiring a contract amendment. DMA further reserves the right to issue Standard Operating Procedure for assignment of security officers at areas on the installation other than the access control point when necessary. Assure the safety and protection of building occupants and real and personal property against injury, molestation, loss or damage from any preventable cause including, but not limited to fire, theft, trespass and sabotage, civil disturbances, or other criminal acts adversely affecting the security or safety of the Agency, its employees, property and the public lawfully in building or on the grounds under control of the Agency. Search persons and vehicles on the facility when required to by force protection conditions, in association with an on post detention that requires a law enforcement response, or as directed by the Provost Marshal. Control and monitor admittance to parking areas and general activity in parking lots. In case of an emergency, summon appropriate assistance, such as the local fire or police department, and immediately notify the Provost Marshal. Per SOP conduct inspection tours on randomly selected routes to ensure safety and security of all personnel, property, and facilities within the area of responsibility. Resolve any problems or incidents using only the reasonable amount of force necessary by law. Necessary force is defined as that which adequately protects the security officer and other individuals from harm or injury until appropriate assistance is present. The use of physical restraints, such as handcuffs, should be the first alternative used. If necessary, security officers may use a baton, chemical spray or Tasers to control an individual. Maintain the security station neat and orderly at all times. Security officers shall not store clothes, equipment or other items, or allow loitering at the security station. Be polite in all dealings with the Agency employees and visitors. Give full attention to assigned duties. In the event of any disputes with regard to the exact character or nature of work to be performed, the decision of the Provost Marshal shall govern.
