Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. CARLI requires that the proposed solution be a library services platform, currently in production in an academic consortial environment. That is, the solution supports the daily operational tasks of an academic library consortium that emphasizes resource sharing among member libraries. Operational tasks include: Selecting and acquiring resources using funds managed by the library in the solution; Describing resources, storing and indexing the descriptive metadata, and making metadata available for searching; Managing borrowing privileges of patrons; Facilitating the sharing of resources through circulation, reciprocal borrowing, remote requesting, and routing; Managing access to electronic resources using knowledge bases and a link resolver; Preparing management reports on operational details; and Interoperating with discovery services and other external systems. Provide the following evidence to support your response: a) To which update of MARC 21 does the solution comply for bibliographic, holdings (MARC 21 Format for Holdings Data), and authority data. b) Describe support for the MARC 21 Specifications for Record Structure, Character Sets, and Exchange Media. c) Specify that the proposed solution conforms to the General Conformance Requirements of ANSI/NISO Z39.50-2003 (S2014), to act as a server and as a client for communication with other systems (see section 4.4.1 of the standard). d) Specify the level of support for communicating with systems using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), specifically ANSI ASC X12, and for other applicable standards which facilitate ingestion of data from international entities (e.g., EDIFACT). e) Describe the level of compliance with NISO Z39.88-2004 (R2010) The OpenURL Framework for transporting context-sensitive services. 3. CARLI requires that the proposed solution be a Software as a Service (a.k.a. “cloud-hosted”) system.
