Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1.2.1 This covers various traffic cones for striping operations, maintenance work protection and lane closures. The cones must be constructed of durable material to withstand abuse by vehicular traffic. 1.2.2 Cones shall meet the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 350 or Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH) requirements. 1.2.3 The conical section of Type 18, 28 and 36-inch, one-piece traffic cones shall be composed of a polyvinyl chloride compound and shall be fabricated of a single homogeneous layer. The base of these traffic cones shall be composed of high density weighted polyvinyl chloride. See example drawing in Exhibit A. 1.2.4 The cones shall exhibit good workmanship and shall be free of burns, discoloration and other objectionable marks or defects that will affect appearance or serviceability. Walls of the cones must be smooth and of uniform thickness. Bumps, ridges or voids at any location shall be cause for rejection.
