The Contractor shall provide all materials, tools, equipment, labor, supervision, coordination, permit and engineering design support as may be necessary to complete the work contained in the contract documents: Metra/Union Pacific North Line, Reconstruction of Bridges and Retaining Walls Addison to Fullerton The following bridge crossings and improvements are included in this Contract: 1. Fullerton Avenue 2. Clybourn Avenue 3. Wrightwood Avenue 4. Diversey Avenue 5. Wellington Avenue 6. Barry Avenue 7. Belmont Avenue 8. Melrose Avenue 9. School Street 10. Roscoe 11. Cornelia 12. Addison Avenue In general terms, the Work includes, but is not limited to, the following items: 1. Relocation or protection of all existing utilities and adjacent structures and facilities. 2. Protection of street and pedestrian traffic. 3. Construct new track roadbed embankment and place sub-ballast for full length of the project. 4. Install temporary earth retention system or jump spans behind both abutments to support live railroad tracks and adjacent structures and facilities. 5. Remove section of the existing superstructure, including existing underdeck lighting. 6. Remove existing steel sidewalk columns where required. 7. Excavate behind the existing abutments. 8. Barricade the openings behind the abutments to prevent access to METRA/UPRR right-ofway. 9. Removal of portions or entirety of the existing stone abutments and portions of the existing concrete footings. 10. Install micropiles for abutment construction. 11. Construction of new reinforced concrete abutments. 12. Place and compact porous granular backfill behind the abutments up to the elevation of the bottom of the sub-ballast on the embankment, at Fullerton and Clybourn Avenues. 13. Place bearing assemblies for new girders. 14. Erect new girders in position. 15. Erect floor system. 16. Install the steel plate ballast deck and waterproofing. 17. Place four inches of ballast on the bridge to protect the waterproofing system. 18. Construct sidewalks, curb, and gutter; restore street pavements and other structures or facilities disturbed by the Contractor. 19. Install new underdeck lighting. 20. Furnish and place all fencing.
