Specifications include, but are not limited to: I. MUD JACKING The contractor shall raise and level sidewalks at locations provided by the Village. A. Method of Measurement Mud jacking will be measured per square, a typical sidewalk square is 5 feet by 5 feet B. Materials 1. Cement slurry mixture: the slurry mixture used for raising concrete slabs shall be composed of lime, sand, ground clay, Portland cement (type 1a conforming to ASTM c150), and fly ash in the following proportions by volume: • Lime/fly ash mixture passing #50 • Sieve 100% sand passing #4 sieve 100% • Ground clay passing #4 sieve 100% • Portland cement – 3 ½ bag mix (approx.) (Should fly ash and/or lime not be readily available, increase the amount of sand by 27% to the mixture.) This shall be accomplished by the use of continuous mixer. All aggregate shall be metered for precise mix design to assure consistent quality control. 2. All materials for job site shall at all times be mobile and not stored in the road or walk area unless agreed upon by village. 3. Slurry material for slab and curb raising shall be mixed with enough potable water to a workable consistency (3 to 6-inch slump). The material once mixed shall be utilized within one hour and may not be retempered (unless so directed by the engineer, if applicable). II. SIDEWALK REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT This work shall include removal of existing sidewalk, replacement of sidewalk and detectable warnings (as needed). Removal will not be measured for payment. A. Method of Measurement The concrete repairs or replacement will be measured in square feet. B. Materials 1. The contractor shall remove the existing sidewalk and sufficient sub-grade to allow for placement of two inches (2") of approved ca-6 crushed stone or crushed gravel on a compacted sub-grade. Replacement shall include the installation of Portland cement concrete sidewalk to a minimum thickness of five inches (5") and thickened to six inches (6") across driveways, and two inches (2") of ca-6 sub-base under the new sidewalk where unsuitable materials are found, and as directed by the engineer. If a filling is required in the sidewalk subgrade, it shall consist of placing and compacting an approved granular material to the satisfaction of public works as incidental.
