1. Lawn Care Mowing: Mowing of grass at least once per week on all properties owned and/or operated by the School District (See Exhibit A) to maintain an aesthetically-pleasant look. This includes all athletic fields owned and operated by the School District. Clippings shall be removed from hard surfaces. Any and all fines or notices given by the City of Joliet or Village of Shorewood for the District not being in compliance with lawn care and landscaping ordinances shall be the responsibility of the Contractor as the Contractor will be responsible for payment of any and all fines in association with the violation of the ordinances. String-trimming: String-trimming is to be performed at least once per week around all school buildings, fences, signs and other areas as applicable for areas that cannot be reached by mower or areas not controlled by spraying. Weeds and grass that have grown through paved areas including curbs and sidewalks and in other places on the school property are to be trimmed at least once per week. Edging: All sidewalks, curbs and other concreted areas are to be edged at a minimum rate of twice a month during the mowing season or as needed to maintain a consistently clear edge to all turf areas. This includes any concrete areas that border turf. Trash Pick-up: All trash will be picked up and disposed of from all grass areas before grass is cut.; 2. Landscaping Tree and Shrub Care Pruning: Shrubs, small trees, and ornamental plants/grass trimming should be included in this bid. ● Shrubs and small trees must be pruned 2 times annually or as needed. ● Ornamental plants and grasses are to be cut back in the fall to promote a healthy plant. All clippings and branches must be removed immediately and disposed of properly following pruning. Fertilization: Shrubs and small trees must be treated with a balanced fertilizer and herbicide three times per year. All applications of fertilizer/herbicide must be in accordance with the Illinois Compiled Statutes (415 ILCS 65/) and with the approval of the Director of Facilities Services. SDS (Safety Data Sheets) regarding product use and application(s) are required and must be submitted to the Director of Facilities Services one week prior to each application. Ornamental Beds Fungicides: Fungicides and insecticides are to be applied as needed to all ornamental plants. All applications of fungicides and insecticides must be in accordance with the Illinois Compiled Statutes (415 ILCS 65/) and with the approval of the Director of Facilities Services. SDS (Safety Data Sheets) regarding product use and application(s) are required and must be submitted to the Director of Facilities and Operations one week prior to each application.; 3. Annual Flowers At the 7 school buildings and the District office there are the following planters: ● Ten (10): 24” diameter planters ● Twenty-one (21): 42” diameter planters ● 1 planting bed in front of the “TROY 30-C DON D. BACON ADMINISTRATION CENTER” sign These planters and the area in front of the curved Administration Center sign shall be planted in accordance to the following guidelines: ● Potting soil shall be replaced annually in each pot with fresh potting soil. ● Install frost-tolerant flowers in all pots and in front of the Troy District office sign in mid-March. ● Install late spring flowers in all pots and in front of the Troy District office sign in mid-May. ● Install late summer flowers in all pots and in front of the Troy District office sign the first week of August. ● Install fall plantings in all pots and in front of the Troy District office sign in mid-September consisting of but not limited to mums, pumpkins, gourds, and ornamental cabbage and kale. ● Install winter evergreen displays in all pots and in front of the Troy District office sign the first week of December. ● The District will be responsible for watering planted flowers once they are installed. ● Each time the planters are replanted they shall each have a minimum plant/product value of $40 for the 24” planters and $50 for the 42” planters
