• All trees will be planted in corporate limits of the City of Springfield. • All trees will be planted in the public property parkways (the area between the sidewalk and curb) or areas designated by the City Arborist. Plantings are anticipated to be in residential areas. • Planting shall begin by April 1, 2024 and all planting shall be complete by April 30, 2024. • Under no circumstances shall a "shade tree" variety be planted under the overhead utility lines. • Shade tree varieties shall have a minimum planting distance of 30 feet between each tree. • Ornamental tree varieties shall have a minimum planting distance of 15 feet between each tree. • The contractor shall contact the City Arborist, during working hours (Monday- Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.) whenever questions concerning corporate city limits, parkways, utility lines, or any other concern regarding this project arise. The City Arborist can be reached at: (217) 789-2255 extension 5329. • Once all trees have been provided and planted per specifications, the contractor is to invoice the Office of Public Works to the attention of Brad Hamel, City Arborist, Room 203, Municipal Center West, 300 South 7th St, Springfield, IL 62701. • The invoice must contain the following information: o The address or location where trees were planted. o The quantity and variety of trees planted per address or location. o The total cost for trees and installation. • The City Arborist shall then confirm the work has been completed to specifications. • Upon confirmation of the work being completed, the invoice shall be processed to be paid. • Plantings shall be warranted for a period of one year from date of planting.
