focusing on two countries: Morocco and Tunisia. The scope of the project includes a 14-16-day itinerary with visits to locations/sites of archaeological, artistic, political, historical, economic, geological, and/or environmental significance. The types of sites chosen should reflect the unique natural and political history of the country, and if possible include tours of archaeological sites, religious complexes, alternative energy facilities (e.g., solar, wind), a medical clinic and/or other vocational enterprise (i.e., small business or tech incubator, vocational school for service industries), and a volunteer opportunity for participants to engage in a service project. Guides to the sites should be experts in their respective fields (i.e., professors of or researchers in the subject area, and/or professionals with significant work experience in the field), contribute to the professional development of higher education faculty, and be able to conduct their tours in English. The proposed itinerary should include at minimum: 1. Economy class is preferred for air arrangements 2. Airport of origin should be Chicago O’Hare 3. All accommodation (3-star or better including breakfast service) for 12-20 travelers with two people per room, individual beds per traveler is a must. 4. Lunch & dinner shall be provided when possible 5. Ground transportation (including transfers between airports and hotels with luggage) 6. Guides with conversational proficiency in English 7. Itinerary detailing the proposed sites that meet the scope as specified in this document 8. Entrance fees to all sites 9. Optional travel protection insurance 10. Vendors are encouraged to incorporate flexibility into the itinerary, sequencing academic site visits during periods when institutions are more likely to be open and scheduling cultural or experiential components during recognized holiday closures. 11. Vendors must clearly outline their cancellation and refund policies, Land costs and airfare costs should be separately itemized.
