Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Aurora Community Services Department operates a warming center during inclement weather on an as needed basis located at 233 N Broadway, Aurora, IL 60505. Bidder shall provide unarmed security officers for the protection of persons and property per the specifications below. The Warming Center is open when overnight temperatures are forecast to be in the mid teens or colder or other weather factors with temperatures above the mid teens, as determined by AEMA in coordination with the Community Services Department, such as an ice storm causing widespread power outages or strong winds causing low wind chill values. Extended forecasts of cold weather can result in the Warming Center being open for weeklong periods. The City of Aurora does their best to provide as much notice as possible before requiring services based on the weather conditions, generally notice will range from as few as three days or up to seven days or more. Security Officers are to keep the peace of the building and guests. Two overlapping shifts of Security Officers are needed. Shifts are to be 6pm to 2 am and 12 am to 8 am. The City of Aurora Community Services Department Team generally operates the Temporary Overnight Warming Center. Between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm a City of Aurora Community Services Department employee will intake those staying at the Temporary Overnight Warming Center. Intake consists of a short form requesting basic information. Between 9:30 pm and 7 am if someone new arrives to utilize the Temporary Overnight Warming Center, the Security Officer will intake said person(S). A Community Services Department employee will be present between 7 am and 8 am to obtain a brief recap of the night from the Security Officer. Security is expected to walk the building at least one time per hour, make sure guests comply with the rules of conduct and keep all guests in designated areas.
