Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, and supervision to complete the salting operations in a manner that provides safe driving and walking conditions for all people entering and leaving the Pace facility. The Contractor shall be available on a 7 days per week/24 hours per day basis. The area to be salted consists of approximately 165,000 square feet. All measurements are approximate and shall be confirmed by the Contractor. TASKS 1. The Contractor shall salt all paved, specified surfaces covered herein and spread a sufficient amount of salt on those surfaces to promote melting and inhibit the refreezing of melted ice and snow. The Contractor shall not begin salting prior to 2:30 A.M to ensure the cleanest, safest surfaces possible prior to the beginning of the business day and shall complete all salting operations in the general parking lot by 4:30 A.M. whenever there is more than a two (2) inch accumulation of snow. Depending on accumulation, all other areas can be worked on at various times during the day under the direction of the Superintendent of Maintenance or his designated representative who will direct the Contractor regarding the sequence of the sections to be salted in order to provide access to the building and not disrupt the operation of the facility. Pace will make every effort to make certain that the Contractor's operations are not hampered by cars parked overnight but cannot guarantee that the Contractor will not have to salt around cars. 2. The Contractor shall salt all paved surfaces covered in this Contract and spread a sufficient amount of salt on theses surfaces to provide safe driving and walking conditions. The specified surfaces covered under this Contract shall include bus lanes, parking lot, driveways, and entrances. Sidewalks shall not be considered part of this contract. 3. The Contractor shall be responsible for any damages caused by the Contractor during salting operations including, but not limited to, buildings, curbs, parking blocks, islands, sidewalks, light poles, signs, landscaping, or pavement on the property or with any Pace equipment or vehicles on the property. 4. The Contractor shall spread salt over all Pace plowed surfaces at a rate sufficient to melt existing snow and ice left and to inhibit refreezing. Salting shall only take place after Pace plowing operations have been completed. Regardless of the number of trucks and/or equipment used for the salting operations, this is still considered a salting operation. 5. The Contractor shall provide any miscellaneous salting on an hourly basis as listed in Exhibit D, Price Proposal. Pace may contact the Contractor at any time and instruct him to salt as directed. The Contractor shall be available within four (4) hours of telephone notification by the Pace Superintendent of Maintenance or his designated representative. 6. The Contractor shall contact Pace’s Superintendent of Maintenance prior to 2:30 A.M. if for any reason they are incapable of performing their salting responsibilities. Pace will start salting if the Contractor has not started salting by 3:00 A.M. Upon arrival of the Contractor, Pace will determine if the Contractor will be paid a flat fee for the remaining work or an hourly rate. 7. The Contractor shall utilize mechanical salt spreaders. All equipment shall be equipped with flashing warning lights and backup warning devices. The Contractor shall be required to provide equipment as directed by Pace.
