Specifications include, but are not limited to: The contractor is required to use truck-mounted snow plows and mechanical salt spreaders for parking lots. The contractor’s equipment inventory shall include a minimum of 15 trucks with mounted snow plows and mechanical spreaders. The contractor may be required to provide equipment such as front-end loaders and dump trucks to remove snow from assigned locations. All equipment shall be equipped with flashing lights and backup warning devices. Contractor trucks and other large equipment shall have exterior identification that identifies it as the contractor’s equipment. For snowfalls of 2 inches to 6 inches depth, all snow shall be plowed away from drive lanes, drive lanes, fire lanes, and parking areas and pushed to the farthest end of the parking lot. No snow shall be piled up and stacked around light posts, islands, or landscaping. 4.6 For snowfalls of more than 6 inches depth, all snow shall be plowed away from the buildings. Contractor may plow snow to islands, light posts, or landscaping if present at a site. Contractor will relocate contractor-created drifts and snow accumulation if such accumulation begins to impair access to the property entrance, fire lanes, interior roadways, or parking lots at no additional cost. The contractor will only be paid additionally for snow removal from the site, or any special work which is not elsewhere covered by the contract, if such work or removal is requested and approved by the Director. 4.7 In the event that snow exceeds an amount capable of being plowed or the piled snow exceeds a safe height limit as determined by the Director, the Director may request that the contractor remove snow to another section of the property or remove it from the property to a location that the contractor is authorized to use for snow dumping
