Specifications include, but are not limited to: Contractor(s) to provide snow plowing services and de-icing for the University’s main campus and Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies (CCICS) campus. Firms are not required to bid on all locations. Firms may submit a bid for Area 1 or Area 2 or both, however, a firm will be required to submit a separate bid for each desired area. Area 1- Main Campus Service Requirements: a) Snow plowing services are typically required when accumulation is four (4) inches or greater. Snow plowing is typically not requested during the University’s holidays or weekends (See Exhibit 3- Holiday Schedule) with the exception of the Access Road and minimum pathways (See Exhibit 1- Area 1 Site Map). b) Normal service is work scheduled during regular work hours, which are between 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. c) Snow removal shall be performed at the request of the University only. Area 2 – CCICS Service Requirements: a) Anytime snow is over two inches (2”) the vendor will be called to plow parking lots and shovel sidewalks. Contractor shall be required to remove snow from the Parking lot at CCICS and to shovel the Main entrance, Rear entrance and sidewalks from the edge of the property. Contractor is required to salt parking lot and all sidewalks and entrances per Exhibit 2- Area Site Map. Contractor shall use sodium chloride salt for parking lot, sidewalk and front and rear entrances. b) Snowplow equipment requirements include, but are not limited to, the following: A smaller, lighter vehicle (e.g. pickup truck with a tailgate salt spreader) with rubber blade must be used. A portable salt spreader will be used at CCICS for salt applications on sidewalks. c) Contractor must call the University Police Department to verify hours, conditions and equipment involved at (773) 442-4100. To insure prompt payment the arrival and departure date and time of services performed must be listed on all invoices.
