The Sheffield Low-Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Facility requires routine maintenance to ensure that the Site is in proper condition. If the clay cap is not maintained, surface water will enter the trenches and cause migration of the radioactive waste to an off-site receptor, causing an undue dose to the public and environment. Further, the low-level waste site (Radsite) and surrounding areas need to be maintained for ease of access and site security. SUPPLIES AND/OR SERVICES REQUIRED: The Site shall be mowed monthly from July 2025-October 2025 and April 2026-June 2026 for a total of 7 times. The Site shall be trimmed monthly from July 2025-October 2025 and April 2026-June 2026 for a total of 7 times. Trees, branches, and brush shall be removed as needed. Application of herbicide to Radsite fence lines shall be applied as needed. The fence shall be maintained and repaired as needed. The Air Sampler Filters shall be exchanged weekly (for a total of 52 replacements) and sent to the Agency. Radsite maintenance inspections shall be conducted on a monthly basis (for a total of 12 inspections). Quarterly radsite/buffer zone inspection reports shall be prepared and submitted to the Agency on a quarterly basis, in January, April, July, and October. The Site shall also be inspected as soon as practicable after events such as severe weather or other occurrences that may cause damage to the Site's cap, drainage systems, security fences, or other appurtenant features; any damage discovered during such non-routine inspections shall be reported to Agency as soon as practicable and no later than 24 hours after such discovery. Vendor shall provide management oversight responsibility and supervisory work for Site maintenance. Vendor shall perform Site repairs requested and pre-approved by the Agency. The LLRW Site is located within a controlled zone not owned by the Agency and is only accessible when the Site owner/operator is present, Monday-Friday.
