All contractors must be insured and bonded and on the Illinois Department of Transportation accepted list of quality services All employees must be prevailing wage and proof of payroll be provided upon request In accordance with the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, the Village of North Riverside has made a determination of the prevailing rates of wages to be paid laborers, mechanics and other workers employed in public works projects. The Village of North Riverside has determined that the prevailing rates of wages are the wage rates for Cook County, as determined by the Illinois Department of Labor. To the extent that the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act applies, Contractor must pay and require all subcontractors to pay the prevailing rate of wages to all related laborers, workers, and mechanics involved in public works projects as established by the Illinois Department of Labor for each craft or type of work needed to execute the contract in accordance with 820 ILCS 130/.01 et seq. o Payroll Receipts must be provided to the Village upon request Contractor shall comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and rules promulgated by any Federal, State, County, Municipal and/or other governmental unit or regulatory body now in effect during the performance of the work. All contractors must be registered with the Village of North Riverside The Village is not responsible for any accident claims such as hit utilities or damage to private property o All work needs to be called in for a JULIE locate (811) prior to digging o Any construction damage to Village property or residential property will be repaired at the contractors cost to a level equal to or better than it previously was All safety equipment must be used according to OSHA guidelines in all instances The Village will provide a disposal site for debris as well as stone backfill If needed, cold patch will be provided for temporary street patches The Public Works Director or his designee(s) will be around to monitor each job and assist with any questions or issues that may arise on site The scope of work under the Sewer and Water bids for the Village of North Riverside may be as follows: Repairs to leaks found on water mains o Water main’s typically range anywhere from 4” to 12” ductile iron but may include up to 18” ductile iron Residential and Commercial Service Line Repairs and Emergency Replacement o Repairs to pre-existing water service lines Existing Service Lines range from 5/8” to 1” in Residential housing and may be either lead or copper Existing Service Lines range from 1” to 6” in Commercial buildings and may be either lead, copper, or ductile iron. o Auguring and running of new water service lines New water service lines are generally 1” to 1.5” but may include larger sizes ranging from 2” to 6” Material is either copper or ductile iron, as determined by the Director of Public Works or his designee(s) New service lines can range anywhere from 30 feet to 70 feet, but may be longer or shorter depending on situation Removal of obsolete water services with a repair sleeve or clamp or replacement of ductile iron pipe may be required in some circumstances Pressure tapping or hot tapping is the preferred method for new lines New service line installations will require coordination between Public Works, the Bidder, and owners of properties involved Water Valve Replacement and removal o Valve size ranges from 4” to 18” Fire Hydrant Replacement, Removal, or New Installation Sewer Line Repair o Existing sewer lines typically are 6”, 12”, 15”, 18”, 21”, and 33” and may be made of either clay or plastic/PVC Catch Basin Removal and Replacement High pressure cleaning of main sewer lines
