Intake Sump This chamber is about 50 ft. x 10 ft. in size and 16 ft. deep. There are a series of grates that can be removed to allow access to this sump for equipment. Additionally, there is a 24-inch hatch with a ladder on the northeast side of the driveway for worker access. The asphalt area near the sump has a 6,000-pound weight restriction on equipment. There is approximately 50 cubic yards of materials to be removed and disposed of from the Intake Sump Chamber. Pumps 4 and 5 Sump This sump is approximately 51 ft. x 20 ft. in size and 16 ft. deep. It is located inside the building, at the center of the station and can be accessed from the west side of the building via an overhead door. It has a 5 ft. diameter hatch for equipment access and a 24-inch manhole entrance for worker access. There is approximately 50 cubic yards of material to be removed and disposed of from the Pump 4 and 5 Sump Chamber. Waste Disposal The Bidder shall be fully responsible for the lawful and proper handling, transportation, and offsite disposal of all waste materials generated during the Work, in strict compliance with all applicable Federal, State of Illinois, Cook County, and local laws, ordinances, regulations, and permitting requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, any permits or documentation required for the transport and disposal of non-hazardous and potentially hazardous materials. Decanting of water removed during the cleaning process back into the Village’s storm sewer system shall be permitted, provided such discharge is consistent with all applicable environmental regulations and does not contain excessive sediment or other pollutants. The Bidder shall ensure that any liquid decanting is conducted in a controlled and non-disruptive manner. All solid waste, sediment, debris, and other residual material removed from the sump chambers shall be the sole responsibility of the Bidder to collect, contain, and dispose of at an appropriately licensed and permitted waste disposal facility. Under no circumstances shall waste materials be left on site or disposed of in any unauthorized location.
