Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Springfield Mass Transit District (District) is seeking proposals from qualified organizations to provide unarmed security services for its facilities and equipment during weekday evenings, weekends, and holidays. Security coverage will be provided for the District facilities located at 928 South Ninth Street. This solicitation will result in a five (5) year agreement in accordance with the terms, conditions, and specifications in this Request for Proposal. The District provides fixed-route bus transportation throughout the greater Springfield area Monday through Saturday. Daytime service is provided on 18 routes Monday through Saturday. Five routes operate night service Monday through Friday. The District also operates a complementary paratransit service for persons with disabilities who are unable to use fixed-route buses through the Access Springfield System. The days and hours of service are the same as those for the fixed-route service. The District office and garage is comprised of six buildings. The District has 57 fixed route buses and 22 paratransit buses, most of which are stored in the garage nightly. The District’s current Security Services Contract is scheduled to end Monday, March 16, 2015 at 5:30 a.m. however has agreed to provide service through the transition of the new Security Service Contractor. The new service provider shall begin securing the District’s properties no later than Monday, April 20, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. Attending the pre-proposal meeting and subsequent site visit are not required but are highly recommended prior to the submission of proposals
