Contractor will collect loose leaves placed in the public parkway, using Village provided leaf vacuum collection trailers, pulled behind contractor trucks, along with required personnel to rake, beginning in the middle of October and ending in early December (7 to 9 weeks). Each truck requires a licensed driver and two (2) rakers. Approximately 10,000 - 12,000 cubic yards of leaf material will be collected during this time with as much as 5,000 cubic yards of that total collected in a two-week period at the height of the season. The Village’s Leaf Collection Program divides the community into five geographic areas (exhibit C). Collection begins in Area 1 and continues in order through Area 5. Once a full cycle is complete the process starts over in Area 1. As leaf volume increases, the number of vacuum trucks collecting leaves increases, up to a maximum of (4) vacuum trucks at the height of leaf season. Bidders should anticipate operating (4) vacuum trucks for four weeks of the seven-tonine-week program. Selected Contractor must provide sufficient labor and equipment to maintain a continuous collection effort and provide no less than eight (8) passes through the entire Village. Included on exhibit C are the street mile totals for each Area and the Village as a whole. Collected leaves will be disposed of at the Chicago Botanic Garden ("CBG"), a licensed landscape waste processing site, located on Dundee Road on the west edge of Glencoe (located on exhibit C with red star), pursuant to an ongoing agreement with the CBG. In the event that the CBG site is no longer available, Contractor will arrange for an appropriate disposal site that will accept the collected leaves. Any alternate disposal site must comply with the Requirements of Law regarding disposal of Landscape Waste. Contractor will charge the Village for the cost of the Parkway Leaf Collection at the rates set forth in exhibit A. References for similar work performed should be listed in exhibit B.
