The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Bureau of Planning is seeking a vendor to provide Online Metropolitan Planning Organization Training. IDOT, Bureau of Planning oversees the funding and coordination of the 15 Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) across the state of Illinois. This project addresses the critical need for MPO-focused training and provides content to support the challenges arising from retirements and staff retention. During the 2024 Fall Planning Conference, a survey revealed that a majority of attendees had been working with or for an MPO for less than five years. This indicates a significant demand for additional training on both state and federal regulations, as well as specific MPO requirements. Discussions at several statewide MPO staff meetings have reinforced the need for such training, which has been positively received by both IDOT and MPO staff. This project shall provide necessary training for IDOT and MPO staff across Illinois, focusing on current federal guidelines and best practices. The training shall be conducted over the course of three years, with a total of up to 100 attendees annually. The training sessions shall commence upon execution of this contract.
