PHASE 1: EXPANSION: EXCAVATION Provide all stone gradation designs for review and approval. Furnish and install silt fence for entire project as shown on Civil Engineering Drawings. Sawcut and remove 5’ depressed curb and gutter at existing N. Cedar Road firetruck entrance. Sawcut and remove existing concrete at both N. Cedar Road and Maple Lane firetruck entrances to make room for new building expansion footprint. Remove existing tree and landscaping at Maple Lane firetruck entrance to make room for new building expansion footprint. Remove and relocate existing signage at Maple Lane firetruck entrance. Sawcut and remove existing concrete stoop at east apparatus bay man door. Strip 6” black dirt and vegetation from proposed building pad and haul off site. Strip balance of site and stockpile for respread. Topsoil respread 6” at green areas. Fine grade building pad to 95% compaction and required moisture content. Review As-Built plans for existing building pad grades. Undercut all foundations through the buried topsoil and fill materials to the native clay soils at approximately 5’ to 5’-6” below existing grade. Stone backfill can be used to return the footing area back to design grade. Excavation plan should follow Option 2 in Testing Services Corporation’s soil boring report. Proof roll clay building pad for inspection prior to placing stone. Excavator shall handle all spoils from sewer contractor at roof drains, plumbing contractor, trenches, electrical trenches and light pole bases and haul off-site. Design is based on a minimum 2,000 PSF soil bearing pressure. Review soil boring report by Testing Services Corporation. Furnish only 4” of CA-6 stone base for all site concrete. Stone to be placed by others. Furnish only 4” of CA-6 stone for new curbs. Stone to be placed by others. Furnish and install 6” of CA-6 stone base for under building floor slab. Regrade stone sub base for building slab prior to concrete slab being poured. LANDSCAPING Remove silt fence prior to starting your work that was installed by excavation contractor. Provide a landscape design that includes restoring disturbed landscaping during construction and restoring existing landscaping that has aged. Landscape design to be approved by New Lenox Fire Protection District. Design is to include replacing tree that was removed during demolition. Provide and install soil erosion blanket and seed where it is shown on civil plans. ASPHALT Provide all asphalt mix designs for review and approval. Resurface all asphalt disturbed from utility trenching as shown on the Civil Engineering plans and details. 3 Supply a stone filled semi-truck for a proof roll inspection of subgrade prior to placement of stone. EXTERIOR SITE UTILITIES Submit all materials required for review and approval prior to ordering. Sawcut and remove existing 4” watermain and B-box to building at existing N. Cedar Road firetruck entrance per Civil Engineering Drawings. Sawcut and remove existing 4” exterior sanitary sewer from north side of property to the footprint of the existing building per Civil Engineering Drawings. Furnish and install new 6” x 12” tee, 6” valve vault, and 6” watermain from N. Cedar Road to the existing building apparatus bay per Civil Engineering Drawings. Watermain shutdown coordinated with New Lenox Public Works. Furnish and install seven (7) manholes and 12” storm piping for roof drains per Civil Engineering Drawings. Furnish and install two (2) new catch basins underneath asphalt drive west of existing building per Civil Engineering Drawings. Furnish and install new 12” Flared End Section on storm piping from the expansion per Civil Engineering Drawings. Furnish and install new inspection manhole over the existing 6” sanitary sewer piping north of the new expansion per Civil Engineering Drawings. Connect to existing catch basins and manholes as needed per Civil Engineering Drawings. FENCING & GATES Submit product data and shop drawings for review and approval. Furnish and install 6’ high black aluminum fence around new patio area on the building expansion. Furnish and install one (1) fence gate on the south face of the aluminum fencing.
