The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is seeking a qualified vendor to provide comprehensive online/on-demand mainframe training for 1 year. The goal of this initiative is to enhance the technical skills of our staff in legacy systems that support critical business operations. Vendors with expertise in COBOL, Job Control Language (JCL), mainframe database environments, operating systems, and mainframe security (including IBM z/OS RACF) are invited to submit bids. No subcontracting allowed. The selected vendor may deliver online/on-demand 1 year training in the following courses: COBOL Programming Fundamentals, structured programming, data types File handling, batch processing, debugging Using Panvelet Best practices for maintaining and modernizing COBOL applications Job Control Language (JCL) JCL syntax and structure Utilities, procedures, and dataset management Workflow automation and troubleshooting Mainframe Databases Overview of common mainframe database systems (e.g., DB2, IMS, VSAM) Database navigation, queries, and application interaction Backup, recovery, and performance concepts Mainframe Operating Systems z/OS architecture and components TSO/ISPF usage and essentials System navigation, datasets, and utilities MVS and Mainframe Security—RACF (z/OS Security) IMS (database) architecture, control blocks, transactions, and DB/DC functions RACF principles, administration, user and group management Access control, authorization, auditing, and compliance (Access control for database and security.)
