- Proposals will be scored as per the evaluation criteria included on the RFP document, Appendix A
Please see below for technical questions and answers related to this RFP:
- Regarding the solenoids, is the specified "length" intended to be
- The solenoids’ length is the length of the coil.
- Regarding the dipole, do you have any specification of field quality required?
- Field uniformity <=1%
- Regarding the dipole, do you want zero degree edge angles (i.e. a pure sector magnet)?
- Yes
- Regarding the collector solenoid, this is very high field and a short length relative to its aperture. If the specified length is the magnetic length (see question above) then it may not be possible to meet this specification. In any case, it will need to be a very high-power high-current-density coil. Do you have any flexibility on this solenoid, for example to make the length longer at a lower field?
- Yes, the defocusing solenoid can be made longer up to 200 mm. If 200 mm still not feasible, we can discuss further
- Regarding the steering magnets, we have the same question about "length" as question 1 above. In this case it seems like this is the magnetic length, given the field and steering angles provided — but please confirm either way.
- The length of the steering magnet is the maximum length of the assembled magnet
- Regarding all magnets, do they require any support structures or adjustment features or is that out of scope?
- The support structure will be designed at Fermilab. Vendor will provide mounting interface.
- Would you be able to provide any dimensional constraints for these magnets?
- Available longitudinal space for the solenoids and dipole is +50 mm on each side. There is no much of constrains in the transverse direction
- It looks like there is not much concern on the electrical or cooling properties, because the power supplies still need to be purchased. However, if you had some maximum current / voltage / flow values in mind that you could provide this would help me stay within your expectations.
This will depend on the design choice by Vendor
